　　主讲人研究背景：

       The current research of Dr. Robert J. Cripps is concerned with fundamental aspects of CADCAM, with a particular focus on geometry, applied to develop robust solutions to engineering problems in surface modelling and CNC machining. He undertakes collaborative research funded by EPSRC and industry and maintain very strong links with our industrial collaborators that include CAD users in the automotive, aerospace and shoe industries along side CADCAM vendors especially Delcam plc.

       Dr. Robert J. Cripps is currently working towards enhancing the point-based approach pioneered by Prof. A.A. Ball and himself and on modelling tool path motions in collaboration with Prof. G. Mullineux at Bath University.  Other areas of research include; the construction of high quality curves and surfaces for industrial applications; and the geometric characterisation of machine tool errors for calibration purposes.

      With the growth of manufacturing in the department, there are new opportunities for novel applications of computation geometry and he is working closely on two research grants with Prof. Pham.
